So, is Christmas mincemeat safe to eat if you’re following the low FODMAP diet? Here’s the answer…
No – traditional Christmas mincemeat is not safe to eat on a low FODMAP diet.
Why is traditional Christmas mincemeat high FODMAP?
Most traditional Christmas mincemeat products contain Apple, which has high amounts of excess fructose and Polyol-sorbitol. Intake should therefore be avoided. Also, sultanas are often present in Christmas mincemeat, which contain high amounts of Oligo-fructans and excess fructose, making them high FODMAP.
