The ultimate gluten-free advent calendar guide 2024! Here’s all the advent calendars down free from aisles and beyond this Christmas. And they’re on shelves right now, Coeliac-friendly, wheat-free with lots of dairy-free options too
The ultimate gluten-free advent calendar guide 2024 – because not even gluten or a ‘may contain’ gluten warning should get between anyone’s love of an advent calendar! Here’s everything I’ve found across Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, Aldi, Lidl and more…
The ultimate gluten-free advent calendar guide 2024
Since this is a guide that shows specific advent calendars across a range of different supermarkets, that’s exactly how I’ve decided to divide them up.
Using the contents list below, you can jump to particular supermarkets if you’re looking for somewhere specific, or feel free to just scroll down to see everything:
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Tesco
Our hunt for gluten-free advent calendars 2024 starts off in Tesco! Now what I will say first of all is that you should expect to see many of the same advent calendars stocked across multiple supermarkets – brands like Cadbury, Kinder, Galaxy and Reese’s always tend to be easily available everywhere.
However, though you’ll see a lot of similarities across all the different supermarkets in this post, be sure to note where differences lie! Some specific advent calendars are only stocked in certain supermarkets (for example, the KitKat advent calendars being absent from Tesco and Asda, but popping up in Sainsbury’s) so make sure you pay attention to that.
The point of this post is not only to let you know which advent calendars are safe and gluten-free, but also as a reference guide for when you’re in a particular supermarket; so you know exactly what you’re looking for and don’t spend hours hunting for something that isn’t there!
In my local Tesco, they only seem to stock the most common advent calendars that you can basically find anywhere – so use this first section as an indicator of which advent calendars you’ll see repeated a lot throughout this guide.
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Asda
Asda has a little bit more selection in terms of gluten-free advent calendars than Tesco, but even still, you will find many of these options in Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl too.
But compared to Tesco, you’ll also find the Nestle Milkybar, Cadbury White, and Haribo calendars too.
Asda also stock two nut-free advent calendars too (which we always used to buy for Mark’s nephew!) so take note of the Kinnerton advent calendars if you need to.
When it comes to gluten-free and dairy-free, you’ve still got the exact same NOMO and MooFree advent calendars as in Tesco. But there’s something exciting for dairy-free folks in the next section: Sainsbury’s!
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Sainsbury’s
Expect to see the usual suspects over in Sainsbury’s, with the main difference being the first appearance of the elusive KitKat advent calendar. Of course, with KitKat being off-limits to us the rest of the year, I will happily welcome any opportunity where that isn’t that case!
If you’re dairy-free pay close attention to the NOMO ultimate choc advent calendar – unlike most dairy-free advent calendars which are just a square of plain chocolate each day, this one is a mini flavoured NOMO bar per day!
Needless to say, I bought the NOMO ultimate advent calendar a month ago for Mark and it’s been patiently waiting at home for December!! So make sure you note that this is not the same as the NOMO advent calendar stocked here and elsewhere. I haven’t seen it stocked anywhere else apart from Sainsbury’s.
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Marks and Spencer
And as always, you can always rely on M&S to shake things up a bit my gluten-free advent calendars 2024 guide. Why? Because they’ll always have unique M&S brand products that you won’t find anywhere else… and they also don’t stock the usual suspects!
Apart from online on Ocado of course, because they sell M&S products on there for delivery! So if you’re a regular Ocado shopper, keep scrolling to see which of these products are also available on Ocado (and a few extras) too…
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Aldi
Though my hopes aren’t ever super high when it comes to finding seasonal gluten-free products at Aldi UK, I was pleased to see waaaay more gluten-free advent calendars in there than last year. In 2023 they only stocked two that were safe!
So if you’re popping in and just want to conveniently pick something up, you’ve got far better choice than last year and they even do the KitKat advent calendar too!
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Lidl
Lidl’s selection isn’t actually as good as Aldi this year, but they have made sure that they still stock a gluten-free and dairy-free advent calendar (The MooFree choccy advent calendar) as they did in 2023.
But believe it or not, with just four safe gluten-free advent calendars, Lidl still isn’t the place that stocks the least for us! Keep scrolling to find out which supermarket left is…
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Morrisons
Good news: this year, I was able to get to Morrisons and see all of their gluten-free advent calendars 2024 for myself!
Though there wasn’t anything especially crazy or unique compared to what we’ve seen already, there’s still a great choice available for us overall.
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Waitrose
There’s never been a vast selection of gluten-free advent calendars in my local Waitrose and this year is no different! However, there’s still three solid options to cover a few bases if you’re stopping by.
Gluten-free Advent Calendars 2024: Ocado
Of course, with Ocado being an online supermarket that also can deliver M&S products, their selection is pretty good – even including a couple of products that weren’t in my local M&S yet.
The selection is essentially a combination of the Sainsbury’s selection combined with M&S!
Last year’s gluten-free advent calendars…
And if you feel like it, you can always check out last year’s post on gluten-free advent calendars for 2023! Why? Well, to see if the selection is better or worse – or to see if any are missing!
For example, the Toblerone advent calendar from last year has been changed and the new one isn’t gluten-free 😳 So please remember that the products in that post may have changed ingredients and if you don’t see them in this post anymore… that might be why!!
Our personal picks!
So out of all of the advent calendars I found this year… which did we pick as our actual advent calendars this year? Drumroll please…
I chose the Reese’s peanut butter cups advent calendar (basically found everywhere!) and as I mentioned, Mark chose the NOMO ultimate choc dairy-free advent calendar (found only in Sainsbury’s and Ocado online). I am confident that, come December, we have most definitely made the right choices! 😆
