Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 – the ultimate guide for the festive season from yet another budget supermarket that we wish stocked more gluten-free products! Everything in this post is all on shelves right now, Coeliac-friendly and wheat-free.
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 – if you’ve read my recent Christmas post covering Aldi (or even just last year’s Lidl post) then you’ll likely already have low expectations, but here we are anyway! I’ve now done posts like this for almost all the supermarkets this Christmas, but stay tuned for both Ocado and Iceland too.
Update log 🗓
- Any new products I find will be added to the post and if/when that happens, I’ll highlight what’s been added in this bit here here:

Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024
Since this is a MEGA guide to Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 I thought I’d split this post up into four sections as you’ll see below as well as a link to where you can view previous year’s products.
Using the contents list below, you can jump to particular sections if you’re looking for something specific, or feel free to just scroll down to see everything:

Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Free From Aisle
Just like in Aldi, if you go looking for dedicated gluten-free Christmas products in Lidl or hunt for Lidl’s free from aisle, you’ll be sure to find…
Don’t worry though, this post isn’t entirely empty! Keep scrolling down below this non-existent free from section for all the rest of the ‘accidentally’ gluten-free Christmas products I did manage to find in other sections of Lidl this year. But please make sure to read this next part before you do…
If you read my Aldi Christmas post for 2024 (or last year’s Aldi/Lidl post) you might find it uncannily strange how similar the situation is here in Lidl once again. Whether you’ve read that post or not, here’s a quick run down of what both supermarkets have in common surrounding gluten-free Christmas products:
- Both used to stock their own brand gluten-free mince pies during the festive season in previous years and now they don’t.
- Both don’t stock own-brand free from products during the festive period or the rest of the year meaning there’s zero dedicated gluten-free products available. Lidl actually used to have a small free from range, but that hasn’t been seen in many years now (it was discontinued). We instead just have to rely on what’s ‘accidentally’ gluten-free entirely here.
- Like Aldi over in Ireland, Lidl Ireland do stock a core range of free from products like bread, flour, pasta, biscuits etc. Here’s a link to a PDF of all the gluten-free products Lidl stock over in Ireland currently in 2024 – if you search that PDF for all the products that are branded as ‘Just Free’ (which are all Lidl’s own-brand free from products) you’ll find 18 products. Compare that to here in the UK where I can’t even find one ‘Just Free’ product listed on the Lidl website whatsoever.
Having been gluten-free for nearly 15 years, I can safely say that things won’t change for the better unless we constantly remind everyone that we exist and that we will happily give businesses our money if they provide for us at respectable prices. After all, without letting businesses (like supermarkets, fast food chains, cafes, restaurants or even TV shows) know that we exist, the status quo of having little to no gluten-free options/representation will just continue.
So this empty section of this post is a reminder to you, the reader, to message Lidl politely asking for a dedicated free from section with essential free from products (like bread, flour and cereal!) to be stocked there all year round at reasonable prices at the very least. And whilst you might feel like one message won’t make a difference, if we’re all persistently doing it, we’re much harder to ignore. I will of course be messaging them too as I did last year!
Here’s how you can get in touch with them:
Anyway, onwards with what I did find in Lidl that was gluten-free in other parts of the supermarket that actually exist….
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Snacks, Party Food + Christmas lunch
Just like last year, there’s substantially less ‘accidentally’ gluten-free products in this category in Lidl when compared to Aldi. This means these are more like ‘you could pick these up if you happen to be passing by Lidl’ products rather than ones you should rush there for!
To be honest, I thought I couldn’t possibly find less than I did last year in Lidl, but in this section all I’ve found are crisps so far! There’s a possibility there might be a couple of party food options to come, but with how little there it for us in Lidl to start with, I certainly won’t be holding my breath.
This small selection of purely crisps is especially sad when you remember that back in 2020, Lidl used to stock lots of pigs in blankets, stuffing balls and even few decent party food options that were gluten-free. It was actually great for affordable Christmas lunch trimmings back then! However, I haven’t seen any of them now for many years and it’s a real step backwards for gluten-free shoppers at Lidl.
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Seasonal Confectionery Aisle
There’s some variety and choice when it comes to general seasonal chocolates and treats, though certainly not as much as you’ll find in other supermarkets.
The fig and almond and date and walnut cakes definitely deserve an honourable mention as I couldn’t believe they were gluten-free – I haven’t seen them in any other supermarkets either!
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Desserts
Phew, we actually have at least two viable dessert options in Lidl! Either of these look great to me and especially when almost all supermarkets are stocking less meringue-based desserts that are safe for us to eat, I was grateful to find these two roulades. So many of last year’s roulades etc. now have ‘may contain’ warnings this year!
Again, with just two safe options Lidl isn’t definitely somewhere you should rush to for gluten-free desserts, but as I said, if you’re passing, please bear these in mind. Hopefully I’ll be able to update this post with more as Christmas nears!
Though I found three festive dessert products at Aldi, considering that two of those were ice lollies and not a proper ‘dessert dessert’, this is one of the only sections where Lidl just about beats Aldi!
Last Year’s Products
And last but not least, here’s all the products that were in Lidl LAST YEAR in 2023.
They may be back this year… they may not! So either way, I thought I’d leave the link to last year’s post above just in case they do make a return.
Don’t forget to check out these Christmas supermarket posts too…
