Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023 – the ultimate guide for the festive season from yet another budget supermarket that we wish stocked more gluten-free products! Everything in this post is all on shelves right now, Coeliac-friendly and wheat-free.
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023 – if you’ve read my previous Christmas post covering Aldi, then you’ll already know the drill here, but there are a few key differences! I’ve now done posts like this for all the supermarkets this Christmas and this is the last one for 2023 – see the bottom of the post for links to other supermarkets.
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023
Since this is a MEGA guide to Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023 I thought I’d split this post up into four sections as you’ll see below as well as a link to where you can view previous year’s products.
Using the contents list below, you can jump to particular sections if you’re looking for something specific, or feel free to just scroll down to see everything:

Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023: Free From Aisle
Just like in Aldi, if you go looking for dedicated gluten-free Christmas products in Lidl or hunt for Lidl’s free from aisle, you’ll be sure to find…
Don’t worry though, this post isn’t entirely empty! Keep scrolling down below this non-existent free from section for all the rest of the ‘accidentally’ gluten-free Christmas products I did manage to find in Lidl this year. But please make sure to read this next part before you do…
If you read my Aldi Christmas post for 2023, you might find it uncannily strange how similar the situation is here in Lidl. Whether you’ve read that post or not, here’s a quick run down of what both supermarkets have in common surrounding gluten-free Christmas products:
- Both used to stock their own brand gluten-free mince pies during the festive season and now they don’t. Lidl might get them in closer to Christmas, but I’m not holding my breath and it’s getting a bit late!
- Both don’t stock own-brand free from products during the festive period (or all-year-round) meaning there’s zero dedicated gluten-free products available. Lidl actually used to have a small free from range, but that hasn’t been seen in many years now (it was axed). We instead just have to rely on what’s ‘accidentally’ gluten-free entirely here.
- Like Aldi over in Ireland, Lidl Ireland do stock a core range of free from products like bread, flour, pasta, biscuits etc. Here’s a link to a PDF of all the gluten-free products Lidl stock over in Ireland – if you search that PDF for all the products that are branded as ‘Just Free’ (which are all Lidl’s own-brand free from products) you’ll find 20 products. Compare that to here in the UK where I can only find one ‘Just Free’ product listed on the Lidl website, which is a dairy-free yoghurt. Why am I not surprised that the only ‘Just Free’ product that survived Lidl’s free from range cull is a product that’s suitable for vegans? See the image below for just a few of the products that Lidl Ireland stock all year round…
Having been gluten-free for nearly 15 years, I can safely say that things won’t change for the better unless we constantly remind everyone that we exist and that we will happily give businesses our money if they provide for us at respectable prices. After all, without letting businesses (like supermarkets, fast food chains, cafes, restaurants or even TV shows) know that we exist, the status quo of having little to no gluten-free options/representation will just continue.
So this empty section of this post is a reminder to you, the reader, to message Lidl politely asking for a dedicated free from section with essential free from products (like bread, flour and cereal!) to be stocked there all year round at reasonable prices at the very least. And whilst you might feel like one message won’t make a difference, if we’re all persistently doing it, we’re much harder to ignore. I will of course be messaging them too!
Here’s how you can get in touch with them:
- Lidl GB Facebook (hit the blue message button to DM them)
- Lidl GB Twitter
- Lidl GB Instagram
- Lidl GB Threads
- Lidl GB Website
Maybe by next Christmas we can improve things for everyone? Anyway, onwards with what I did find in Lidl that was gluten-free….
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023: Snacks, Party Food + Christmas lunch
There’s substantially less ‘accidentally’ gluten-free products in this category in Lidl when compared to Aldi. This means these are more like ‘you could pick these up if you happen to be passing by Lidl’ products rather than ones you should rush there for!
They do have a decent range of crisps that happen to be gluten-free, but still nothing as interesting or exciting as the crisps you’ll find at Aldi. Of course, in all other supermarkets you’ll find tons more snacks, party food and Christmas lunch bits and pieces, but I think that goes without saying!
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023: Seasonal Confectionery Aisle
Fortunately, there’s some variety and choice when it comes to seasonal chocolates and treats in Lidl and even… *world’s biggest drumroll*
An actual dairy-free product! Yep, make sure you note the MooFree selection box as in Aldi for example, you won’t find any dairy-free options at all. It may not be much, but it’s something!
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023: Desserts
Thanks to Lidl’s range of different ice cream desserts, there’s actually a few decent options here when it comes to gluten-free dessert options with non-plain or boring flavours. Plus as some of them are mini, they’d make a great easy, no-brainer, portable desserts if you’re having to take a suitable dessert to someone else’s house this Christmas.
Aldi wasn’t especially great for desserts, but they did have a decent chocolate igloo which is a little more showy and exciting than what you’ll find here in my opinion.
Lidl’s gluten-free Christmas products 2023: Previous Year’s Products
And last but not least, here’s all the products that were in Lidl three years ago in 2020.
Apparently I haven’t done a Lidl gluten-free Christmas products post in a few years, hence it being from 2020! But I include this so you can see how the range has changed for better or worse over the years and in this case… we seem to have noticeably less, agreed?
Oh and hit the button below to grab a copy of my new book ‘Gluten-free Christmas’ which is currently £11 for who knows how long!
