So, I am writing this from a slightly different location to normal. I am back where I actually started taking Symprove for the first time… 7 weeks ago! I’m at my parents house back down south for the weekend as it is my Dad’s birthday. That won’t stop me putting a little update of my week for everyone.
This week I definitely had a mixed week. It could have been a great week, but, I think I might of consumed a little too much of one of my biggest trigger foods. That being… sugar!
I have had a massive issue with sugar for a few years now. It doesn’t overly matter what types of sugar, they all seem to give me differing levels of cramps. From gluten free iced bun to a piece of fruit. Most of the time I am very sensible and keep away from such triggers, but occasionally a tiny spoonful of something sugary can’t be resisted. It really does just take the smallest amount to push my body into IBS attack mode. Major cramps & plenty of discomfort.
On this occasion I decided to bake a cake for some other folks & to try out a recipe. I just couldn’t resist a few licks of the spoon.. I mean you’ve got to test the cake batter… & you’ve got to taste the buttercream, right?! WRONG! My stomach well & truly told me off! The next day I really struggled to eat without bloating and being in a lot of pain.
However, luckily it was only for one day & I now feel great again! I do believe that Symprove helps me to reduce the amount of time I feel bad after a trigger episode. For those who believe taking a probiotic like Symprove is suppose to instantly cure any food intolerances, then I would say you’re wrong. Based on my experience, I am not suddenly going to be able to eat every single food that I can’t eat now. However, I hope that I might be able to introduce some of the foods that give me the least bad effect into my diet again, very slowly… one day!
For me, it is not about that. I can absolutely deal with removing foods from my diet. What I can’t deal with is random out of the blue IBS attacks that come about for no real reason!
Whilst at home the past few days I have endured plenty of stress and plenty of meals out (& takeaways!) None of this usually goes well for me, but I seem to have everything under control. I’ve kept positive, & been very, very careful with the foods I have eaten to make sure IBS doesn’t get a chance to creep in.
As I always say, keeping a positive mental attitude will always benefit how you feel in your second brain…. your gut. Symprove is a great facilitator that really helps me keep positive. I have never continuously tried out any probiotic or potential medicine for such a long time before, but I am really seeing the difference with Symprove. I actually enjoy taking it every morning! I enjoy the effects it has gradually had on my body. I really do hope it continues in the weeks ahead of us. Begone IBS!
