Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 – the final part of my supermarket guide series ends with Iceland, the budget UK supermarket – not the Nordic country! Everything in this post is all on shelves right now, Coeliac-friendly and wheat-free.
Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 – this is the first festive round-up post I’ve ever done on Iceland and though you might not expect a lot, I wouldn’t post it without good reason! Though lacking a lot in the free from department, there’s some amazing party food products I absolutely had to highlight for your consideration. So let’s dive in!
Update log 🗓
- Any new products I find will be added to the post and if/when that happens, I’ll highlight what’s been added in this bit here here:

Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024
Since this is a MEGA guide to Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024 I thought I’d split this post up into four sections – though please remember that this post is mainly about frozen party food!
Using the contents list below, you can jump to particular sections if you’re looking for something specific, or feel free to just scroll down to see everything:

Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Free From Products
Just like in Aldi or Lidl, if you go looking for dedicated gluten-free Christmas products or hunt for any kind of free from aisle in Iceland, you’ll be sure to find…
Don’t worry though, this post isn’t entirely empty! Keep scrolling down below this non-existent free from section for all the rest of the ‘accidentally’ gluten-free Christmas products I did manage to find in other sections of Iceland. But please make sure to read this next part before you do…
Just like highlighted in my Aldi and Lidl posts across the last two years, there’s absolutely zero festive dedicated free from products to speak of in Iceland. And that’s the case because these supermarkets don’t even have a dedicated free from aisle or free from range at any time of year, let alone at Christmas. Believe it or not, Iceland did used to stock a range of frozen free from products back in 2019… which were sadly discontinued not long after! In past years, they also used to stock gluten-free mince pies too and few other festive free from products, believe it or not.
But these days, Iceland’s highlighted gluten-free products on their website mainly comprise of a bunch of random products like condiments, yoghurt and potato-based products that we could likely buy in any other supermarket in the UK. We have no chance of completing a weekly shop here, to say the least!
Having been gluten-free for nearly 15 years, I can safely say that things won’t change for the better unless we constantly remind everyone that we exist and that we will happily give businesses our money if they provide for us at respectable prices. After all, without letting businesses (like supermarkets, fast food chains, cafes, restaurants or even TV shows) know that we exist, the status quo of having little to no gluten-free options/representation will just continue.
So this empty section of this post is a reminder to you, the reader, to message Iceland politely asking for a dedicated free from section with essential free from products (like bread, flour and cereal!) to be stocked there all year round at reasonable prices at the very least. And whilst you might feel like one message won’t make a difference, if we’re all persistently doing it, we’re much harder to ignore. I will of course be messaging them too!
Here’s how you can get in touch with them:
- Iceland’s Facebook
- Iceland’s Twitter
- Iceland’s Instagram
- Iceland’s Threads (seems to be a bit inactive)
- Iceland’s Website ([email protected])
Anyway, onwards with what I did find in Iceland that was gluten-free from other parts of the supermarket…
Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Snacks, Party Food + Christmas lunch
To be quite frank, this section is the entire reason I dedicated to create a gluten-free Christmas products post for Iceland for the very first time. Because unlike in previous years, the combination of their TGI Fridays and Cathedral City range actually present some exciting choices for any gluten-free party food spread this year.
Of course, like I often say in these posts, please don’t get excited and assume that all products that fall under these two brands are gluten-free! These are specific products that I’ve personally found and checked for you in store – if I didn’t include other products in these ranges here in this post, it’s probably because they weren’t safe to eat!
And though other supermarkets will likely have more party food products to come (as chilled party food products often don’t show up until closer to Christmas), with the range that Iceland has currently, they’re well ahead in terms of choice for gluten-free party food at the time of writing!
Please take note of the BBQ pork mini ribs, as they also have a non-mini version that isn’t safe to eat. This product along with the spicy chicken wings also aren’t frozen and instead found in chillers. Please always remember to ensure you have the correct product and check the ingredients/relevant ‘may contain’ warnings for yourself before buying!
Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Seasonal Confectionery Aisle
Whilst I was in Iceland, I thought I’d hunt for the usual ‘accidentally’ gluten-free seasonal chocolate and this is what I found!
Of course, with Iceland being mainly focussed on frozen food, I didn’t expect much – however, they do have a decent choice of options that are well worth considering if you happen to be passing by.
Needless to say, if you’re specifically looking for lots of stocking fillers or gifty-type confectionary products, other supermarkets might be a better choice.
Iceland’s gluten-free Christmas products 2024: Desserts
It is a little disappointing to find that Iceland only have two safe gluten-free desserts in a veritable sea of frozen dessert products, but this isn’t too dissimilar to other supermarkets this year, to be honest.
Note the 4 mini toffee and pecan roulades because these used to be gluten-free and stocked in almost every other supermarket last year. But this year, Iceland seems to be the only one that has this particular flavour variation which hasn’t magically developed a ‘may contain gluten’ warning since last year. So make the most of that!
In fact, if you’ve been keeping up with my other supermarket posts, you’ll have likely read how I’ve pointed out that many of last year’s roulade and meringue-based desserts now have ‘may contain’ warnings that make them unsafe for Coeliacs. So please double-check that you’ve got the correct product as shown here, check the ingredients/allergy info and don’t blindly assume that last year’s product is gluten-free this year too!
With that all out of the way, here’s the two meringue-based desserts I found in Iceland that were gluten-free:
