It’s crazy how times have changed in the free from world. It’s also funny how I say this every single year! Improvements are literally constant in the free from market. It just keeps growing and growing & brands/supermarkets are becoming more and more savvy to this. Sainsburys are definitely one of those right on the ball at the moment with their Free From Sainsburys range looking lovely on the shelves!
So…. one of the supermarkets that has disappointed me up until this point in time is Sainsburys. Yes they have always had an ok free from range, but nothing stand out, nothing special. They also have in my opinion always had a terrible stand at The Allergy & Free From Show… on occasions having a basket of free from gingerbread men broken up into pieces for samples and 3 smartly dressed, frankly unapproachable staff (in comparison to the other stands). It’s always disappointed me, I love Sainsburys and I wanted it’s free from offering and general approach to be something I could love to.
Fortunately, Sainsburys seem to have got their butt into gear this month… or likely over the past year in preparation. Finally they have a free from chilled section that doesn’t just consist of dairy alternative milks. In a way they have bypassed the other supermarkets and jumped to the front of the queue… for now! Hurrah for the Deliciously Free From Sainsburys range!
Obviously they’ve had the delicious Kirsty’s gluten free meals, the gluten free Pizza Express pizza, heck sausages & a few other ranges that offer gluten free products in the chilled section before now, but this week seems to have seem a proper explosion for the free from Sainsburys brigade.
I thought I’d share some of the products I saw in the new free from Sainsburys chilled range when I visited recently. It was pretty special.

I’ve heard there is more to be added to the chilled Deliciously Free From Sainsburys range in time as well as the main non chilled free from aisle AND the freezer aisle which is very exciting. I’m hoping for more dairy free options to be included in time. Of course the cheeses are massive but a few other bits wouldn’t go a miss. It’s such a shame when I can eat something & Mark can’t… (& vice versa!) I’ve also heard quite a few comments relating to the fact it isn’t all that great for those who need to be soya free. I hope more brands consider this moving forward as well!
Anyway, let me know what you think of the new Deliciously Free From Sainsburys range. Have you tried any yet? Has anything surprised you or been a disappointment? What would you like to see on their free from shelves next?! Just drop a comment below or on Facebook/Twitter.
