I’ve recently started a new job and with that has come a lot less time to do the little things in life… like food shopping! Luckily Mark is a top food shopper and has taken the lead in this. A couple of weeks ago Mark brought me home a packet of crisps he found in Tesco for me to try. They were Veronica’s Veggie Crisps – Roast Tomato & Spanish Paprika flavour. I instantly fell in love with this gluten free snack. Not only are they gluten free, they are baked and thus a lot lower in fat than regular fried crisps. Additionally, and best of all, they taste like a better version of one of my favourite packets of crisps from the past… Walkers Max Paprika flavour. They have a strong flavour and of course don’t contain gluten unlike the Walkers Max.
Sadly Mark only bought one packet and bought them at a supermarket we rarely visit therefore I had been unable to find them since. So when Veronicas messaged me offering to send me a sample box I couldn’t say no.
Last week a delicious delivery arrived. A delicious box of treats! 4 different flavours of Veronica’s snacks as well as an amazing Happiness Bag! (I will be using this all the time)
I thought seeing as Veronica and the gang had been so friendly in sending me these amazing treats that I would give you a little overview of each of the flavours I was sent! Of course all flavours are completely gluten free!
Baked Veggie Crisps – Roast Tomato & Spanish Paprika
As I mentioned these crisps are a much better version of Walkers Max Paprika Crisps. They are light and have a nice crunch to them. I love the strength of flavour that they deliver and will definitely be buying these again and again. These crisps are also not just made of potato but a range of other vegetables too. Often vegetable crisps are actually unhealthier but not with these baked ones!
Baked Potato Crisps – Sour Cream, Herb & Onion
I have always been a fan of Sour Cream and Onion Pringles but have never really liked to buy a tube as either I eat them all too quickly, or somebody else seems to steal them! Before you know it the tube is gone! Again, the flavour in these is better than any other Sour Cream and Onion crisp I have tasted. They lack the greasiness that a fried crisp seems to always have and pretty much do exactly what you would/should expect from a crisp!
Baked Potato Crisps – Barbecue
I only just tried the Barbecue flavour today and enjoyed thoroughly what I tasted! The barbeque flavour is subtler than the other flavours but it is often the case that I cannot eat barbeque flavoured crisps at all so this was really nice. They were probably my least favourite but this wouldn’t stop me from having them again!
Baked Crunchy Creatures – Cheese Flavour
These crisps are amazing. They are similar to Wotsits but so much better not just because the cheesy taste is less artificial but also because each crisp is in the shape of a dinosaur! I love them and I think both children and adults alike will also love them.
I have already visited the supermarket that sells these tasty delights and purchased some more. I even mentioned to my local supermarket the other day that I would love to see them in store, so we shall see! If you do happen to see a packet of Veronica’s dotted around your local supermarket I seriously suggest you pick up a bag or 3… I was surprised at how tasty they were considering in my head crisps are crisps! The flavours are perfect and I definitely can’t fault the friendly, happy packaging either!
Let me know if you happen to find these around your area more than I do… I want to know where I can get them easier!!
