The Allergy and Free From Show brought with it a debut performance at the show from Ilumi. I had heard of Ilumi about a month prior to the show and had ordered one of their sample products online, however it only turned up the day after the Allergy Show and so I didn’t really know much about the brand.
Basically Ilumi is a brand that cooks up delicious gluten, dairy and nut free foods. They create products which come in colourful pouches that are incredibly eye catching. If you haven’t already you must just check out their entire brand image at their website: www.ilumi.com. They have a really well presented online magazine which I think is really youthful, funky and fresh – something which a few older gluten free brands these days are lacking.
Their range includes an assortment of soups, sauces, gravies and sides that all come in the colourful pouches as I mentioned. Not only this, they also
offer a good selection of main meal dishes and complete meals. There is a huge mix of different cuisine main dishes to pick from; Chilli Con Carne to a Thai Red Chicken Curry or even Beef Meatballs in Tomato Sauce. These dishes all work perfectly with their side dish pouches of rice.
In terms of complete meals Ilumi also offer a huge selection from Moroccan Style Vegetable Tagine to a Slow-cooked Chicken Casserole – Ilumi offer so much!
What’s more all of these dishes can be cooked to perfection in the microwave in 1-2 minutes, this is seriously quick ready meal food, and for once us intolerant folk don’t need to worry. In addition to the dishes being free from all the gluten, dairy and nut nasties, they are also really nutritious and wholesome. If you want to look into the ingredients and nutritional values of any of their dishes you can do so on their website, so click here!
So back to their friendly presence at The Allergy and Free From Show! Ilumi had a massive stand that was incredibly eye catching at the show. It was also the stand which seemed to incorporate the most technology within it with big screens and iPads to register your details. Although I often feel that technology can decrease the human personal touch in many situations this was not the case at Ilumi where a friendly face greeted us with a free goodie bag upon arrival. When we arrived back our hotel we realised the goodie bag was filled with 3 different main dishes and a side of rice, I cannot wait to give these a try! Of course our time at the Ilumi stand would not be complete without some free tasters. I tried out the Kerala Chicken Curry and it was delicious! Myself and Mark both commented on how tender and soft the meat was; the flavours were just right, especially as I am a huge fan of a coconut milk based curry with a subtle hint of spice. Just that one sample alone made me really eager to try all their other products… just you wait taste buds, you are in for a real treat soon!
I really like the entire concept to Ilumi, the brand feels fresh and the flavours speak for themselves. Whether you’re coming in late after a tiring day at work or even if you’re out camping, maybe at a festival, Ilumi is a brand you should definitely give a try.
