In a recall posted today by the Food Standards Agency (30th June 2023), Tesco have recalled three free from snacks as they contain gluten not mentioned on the label.
According to the post on the Food Standards Agency website, these three products contain gluten which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease or an intolerance to gluten.

What is a product recall?
According to the Food Standards Agency: “if there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).”
In this case, the product in question is being recalled by Tesco.
How do I know if my packet of Tesco Free From Onion Rings, Cheese Flavour Balls or Bacon Rashers are affected or not?
Any pack of the above with a best before date of the 16th of December 2023 is NOT safe to eat.

What should I do next if I have these products in my cupboards at home?
Don’t open it and don’t eat – instead, the Food Standards Agency are advising everyone to return it to the store you bought it from for a full refund. No receipt is required.

What are Tesco doing to address this issue?
As explained on the Food Standards Agency website, Tesco is recalling the product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
Tesco has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.

If you still have the packaging with the affected date, I would recommend taking it and as much of the product as possible to Tesco customer services.
