We’re still slowly working through some of the fantastic gluten and dairy free products which we picked up at The Allergy Show here at Gluten Free Cuppa Tea! The next thing we had the pleasure of sampling was Pudology‘s Chocolate Pud.
Having already discovered how much we loved the name Pudology in Becky’s review last week, I finally got to try one for myself! Is the proof really in the pudding?
I have to say, Pudology’s Chocolate Pud is the most chocolatey thing I have experienced in all my years as a lactose-intolerant. I expected it to be much like other chocolatey based desserts and either be very heavy on the cocoa flavour or very distinctively soy-based/flavoured. So you can imagine my delight to find that it’s actually made from dark chocolate and coconut milk predominantly! This makes the flavour much more balanced and much richer than the soy-based equivalents available. It tastes like chocolate! The texture was like having a thick mousse with an intense flavour that you can really get your spoon into.
Why don’t more dairy-free desserts use coconut milk? It seems obvious when you’ve tried Pudology! I quickly found that it’s an amazing combination and possibly the closest thing to milk chocolate that us dairy-intolerants will ever experience. It just has that rich creamy flavour that only true dairy or coconut milk can provide. Of course, it’s gluten-free too and you won’t find any hidden nasties in here.
