We were lucky enough at The Allergy Show to stumble across the wonderful Glamour Puds, a team dedicated to creating “a little glamour in a gluten-free world.” In a market dominated so fiercely by cakes and snacks, something that might truly qualify as gluten-free dessert is often left to the imagination. We were thus very excited to pick up a few of their brand new chiffon pies; they’re not only gluten-free but also dairy-free too so I couldn’t help but get a spoon in one immediately!
I must admit, I had no idea what a chiffon pie even was prior to my love affair with Glamour Puds, but it’s safe to say that I am now the expert. It transpires that they’re a sort of shortcrust pastry pie with a light and fluffy egg-based filling. Don’t say we don’t teach you anything here at Gluten Free Cuppa Tea!
The passionfruit flavour was exceptionally light and refreshingly sharp whilst the shortcrust pastry was formidable as far as gluten-free pastry goes; being only dairy intolerant and not gluten intolerant, I’d say the pastry was a good substitute for the real deal. The filling was fluffy and had a wonderful airy texture to it. With the sweet passionfruit flavour and crumbly shortcrust base combined, you’ve got a match made in heaven.
Grab a spoon and seize back dessert for the gluten-free crowd! I’ll be reviewing the two other flavours in the next few days 🙂 4/5
