The sconeybun… Half bun, half scone… what?! Whoever thought up this idea I admire their creative brain. Whoever then designed the recipe and baked the Sconeybun… I admire your bakery skills and you culinary palette! Thank you to the Honeybuns’ Bakery Team!
So as I said the Sconeybun is half bun, half scone… a weird concept to imagine really. I had no idea what to expect and when I tasted it for the first time, and it was not what I expected either. The Sconeybun is definitely more cake/bun than it is scone. The texture is soft and moist, it is as good as a freshly baked homemade cake, not something you expect from a baked product that has been delivered in the post!
It has a fairly distinct taste of almonds which I really love, I’m sure this is a familiar flavour to many a’ gluten intolerant as it is often an ingredient used in many gluten free cakes I find. The almond taste works really well, and I guess that flavour makes it for me feel even more like a cake!
On the packaging it says how the Sconeybun can be enjoyed on its own or with butter and maybe a little jam like a traditional scone. With only one Sconeybun and two options I thus decided to have half plain and then a little later I enjoyed the other half with some butter and jam.
The Sconeybun can certainly be enjoyed on its own, it really doesn’t need anything else with it; it is truly delicious! However, upon trying it with butter and jam it was exceptionally tasty as well! I can’t say which way I preferred it to be honest, so I guess I’d just say whatever is tickling your taste buds on a particular day is how you should enjoy it!
Of course with all baked goods they are a cheeky treat and so they shouldn’t be indulged in 3 or 4 times a day. But when you do want to indulge it is always nice to eat the best, and this Sconeybun was certainly one of the best things I have eaten recently!
I’d definitely suggest you all give the Sconeybun a try when you get the chance. It is both gluten and dairy free which of course is amazing but don’t prevent the gluten and dairy eaters from giving it a try, I guarantee they will love the Sconeybun too! It’s the perfect food to have lurking in the cupboard (or the freezer – they can be frozen!) for when friends and family pop over or just when you fancy a little treat after a hard working day!
If I haven’t convinced you of trying the Sconeybun… let the Sconeybun convince you with its epic taste. Grab one over at: https://www.honeybunsshop.co.uk/productGroup/Cake-Slices
