Oh… but what’s this…

No ready made gluten free sandwiches or gluten free wraps for me today. Sadly these were all sold out when I arrived at M&S. Fortunately, I had already eaten my lunch! It’s really good to see that the gluten free on the go range has increased at M&S though. The Marks and Spencer gluten free range now includes the Gluten Free Mexican Three Bean Wrap and the Gluten Free Piri Piri Chicken Wrap! Perfect accompaniments to the already tasty gluten free lunch range. (gluten free BLT, gluten free chicken salad, gluten free cheese and pickle).

Plus, there are a huge range of gluten free crisps & a few little gluten free cakes in the lunch section too!

What a range!

I’m really impressed with the vast amount of offerings in the Marks and Spencer gluten free range. M&S are definitely flying the flag for gluten free food in the UK. There are so many different meals on offer here to make gluten free eating in OR gluten free eating out (at friends houses) not such a problem. There has been so many surveys over the last few years showing how many coeliacs & gluten intolerant folk find it difficult when going round a friends house for dinner. I think, having this lovely selection of gluten free products that a coeliac can guarantee are all 100% safe for them to consume will just make many different everyday situations a whole lot easier.

My one issue with the Marks & Spencer gluten free range is their lack of offerings for other allergens. Many of those who have coeliac disease can often find that dairy is not always top on their list of foods they can eat. As well as that, there are a huge amount of people in the UK with a lactose intolerance & require dairy free foods; the M&S gluten free range is by no means ‘free from’ much else. I would like to in the future see more options in terms of meals that also take into consideration other allergens, especially dairy free. Personally, I think there are lots of dairy free alternative ingredients that can be added instead of dairy to recipes that make very little difference to the taste or texture… M&S… give it a go please!

Anyway, all in all I am mighty impressed with the Marks & Spencer gluten free range. They seem to have really taken on board a lot of foods that us folk miss who live gluten free. From pies to cheesecakes, trifles to mac & cheese – Marks & Spencer have now made it possible for us to eat these meals without having to spend tons of the time in the kitchen, creating everything from scratch.

I know many folk enjoy getting stuck in and making their own gluten free meals and bakes at home, I for one, love cooking. But not everyone has the time or passion for cooking. Just because I love creating & trying out gluten free recipes, doesn’t mean the next person does! The Marks and Spencer gluten free gives us all options, and for that I salute you M&S!

What do you think of the new Marks and Spencer gluten free range? Have you been able to get your hands on it yet? What have been your favourite products? Is there anything else you wish they did or could improve upon? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below, or on Facebook/Twitter.

Thanks for reading,
